In Memory of Ghost
June 6, 2006 to July 17, 2006
Ghost entered our lives as the smallest of his 13 brothers and sisters, yet his impact on our hearts was immeasurable. Though his life was brief, the joy he brought us will forever be cherished.

A Tribute to Our Beloved Ghost
In honor of Ghost and all our beloved Danes who have come before and after him, we reflect on the poignant lines of a poem dedicated to their memory:
"For all the joys this pup will bring, the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may. And for the happiness we've known forever grateful stay."

Lend Me a Pup
I will lend to you for awhile,a pup, God said,For you to love him while he livesand mourn for him when he's dead.Maybe for 12 or 14 years,or maybe two or threeBut will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me.He'll bring his charms to gladden youand (should his stay be brief)you'll always have his memoriesas solace for your grief.I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth returnBut there are lessons taught belowI want this pup to learn.I've looked the whole world overin search of teachers trueAnd from the folk that crowd's life's landI have chosen you.Now will you give him all your loveNor think the labor vain,Nor hate me when I come to take my Pup back again.
I fancied that I heard them say"Dear Lord Thy Will be Done,"For all the joys this Pup will bring, the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter him with tendernessWe'll love him while we mayAnd for the happiness we've knownforever grateful stayBut should you call him backmuch sooner than we've planned,We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand. If, by our love, we've managed, your wishes to achieveIn memory of him we loved,to help us while we grieve,When our faithful bundledeparts this world of strife,We'll have yet another Pupand love him all his life.
